If you did not receive a warning message in your Google Webmaster Tools then that means Google has not punished you for having spammy links and therefore, you don't need to worry about removing any.

Now if you did receive one of the 700,000 warning messages that Google sent out, I suggest looking at your link footprint and at least trying to remove the spammiest ones... A good place to start would be if you have links from low quality, spun articles, you can delete the articles and close the accounts. If you paid for links from a network of sites that can easily be identified as a network then those should be easy to remove as well, just contact the owner and cancel your subscription.

Next, if you have hundreds of thousands of links from forum and comment spam, these cannot be removed. I'm still torn on these types of links though because anyone can easily attack your site using xrumer and scrapebox so I find it hard to believe that Google would punish you for these types of links so start by cleaning up the other stuff first and if that doesn't work you may have to take some more drastic measures that I outlined in this Penguin Recovery Case Study http://zacharykwilliamson.com/...

Lastly, DO NOT contact Google about it in any way! Google's reconsideration process is a damn sham... The reason is that it only applies to manual actions that have been taken against your site and has absolutely nothing to do with your site being affected algorithmically. Alternatively, Google just uses the information collected there against you and againt the entire SEO community... kinda like trying to get you to tattle on yourself and divulge information. Please read this post about it http://blog.iacquire.com/2012/...

Re: Beware of The Penguin, The Google Penguin That is

Some people have started advocating removing old links because they may seem "unnatural." It seems like a long an arduous process if you've been optimizing a site for a while. Is this worthwhile process?

Also, would you recommend writing a letter to Google for reconsideration? Will that have any effect?

Re: Beware of The Penguin, The Google Penguin That is

Well Sandeep, to answer this question I would need to write a whole post or better yet a whole book but in short I advise you to stick to "content" based links and make sure your content is high quality. Articles and 2.0 sites are still great but the articles must be Panda friendly so hire some really good writers and put the spinner down. I wrote this post a few months back http://zacharykwilliamson.com/...

Other than that, you should request guest posts on relevant sites, press releases, Q&As are still good, photo and video blogging, link buying and 3 way exchanges, manual directory submissions, and even forums as long as its manual.

Lastly, I want to stress the importance of anchor text diversity... use a wide range of keywords and keyword synonyms in your anchor text so you don't leave such a big footprint.

Re: Beware of The Penguin, The Google Penguin That is

Now After this update what off page and on page activity we have to do for better ranking in search engines or google.com please guide me or post about this on your blog. or gime link so i can start working.

Re: Beware of The Penguin, The Google Penguin That is

Yep, I recommend that as an effective way to still use black-hat link building post Penguin.

Re: Beware of The Penguin, The Google Penguin That is

So okay in post-penguin era.....have them directed to 2.0s like this one I would make in backlinks genie?

This update has sparked a lot of controversy, with many legitimate sites complaining about being unfairly penalized. One thing I'd add is that if your site was slammed, don't freak out just yet. It might be a week or two before the new search results stop dancing around and "settle down."

Re: Porn SEO | Optimization at its Finest

how does i get my porn site no. 1 rank in search engine?

Re: Porn SEO | Optimization at its Finest

Very good advice, I have just set up www.your-pornhub.com and think these tips will be a great help!!

Re: Find the Mistake 123456789 Brain Teaser

It could be that there needs to be another '5' next to the current '5', or you take away the current '5' then it would be correct, this could be the answer because if you take the 2 end numbers and work into the middle all the 2 numbers will add up to 10. When you get to the middle you have 1 number which is a 5 and adds upto 5. By putting another 5 there it would add up to 10, by taking the 5 away it would also work. That could be the answer but I may be wrong.

Re: How to Write Panda-Friendly Articles

Good stuff mate, Look forward to giving it a try...

Re: How to Write Panda-Friendly Articles

This article is a great of example of the information contained in the article, great stuff!

Re: Post Panda SEO Tips

Thanks Zack. You have to buffer with another site to get traffic to your site. It's probably the best way, as you can build traffic with traditional SEO. However, finding related topics is not easy.
